Im frühen Januar durfte ich die Zivile Trauung von Angi und Peter in Luzern fotografieren, von welcher ich hier ein paar meiner Favoriten zeige. Draussen war’s eisig kalt, doch das sorgte erst recht für eine freundliche, familiäre Atmosphäre während der ganzen Hochzeit. Familiär im doppelten Sinn, bald sind die beiden zu dritt.

Ein paar schöne Portraits fotografierten wir drinnen an der Wärme, im schönen Rathaus von Luzern und im Hotel Seeburg, wo anschliessend das Fest stattfand. Die ersten Fotos entstanden aber schon davor, bei den Vorbereitungen und die schöne Frisur ist das Werk der Trauzeugin höchstpersönlich.

This is a small favorites selection from the early January wedding of Angi and Peter in Lucerne. It was a freezing cold winter day, but this couldn’t change anything about the warm-hearted atmosphere. And yes, they will soon be a family of three.

We took some nice portraits inside the beautiful and historic city hall of Lucerne and in the Hotel Seeburg where the party took place afterwards. But the first photos were taken before during preparations and the maid of honor in person created the beautiful hair.

In Lucerne, civil weddings can be held in the portrait-hall of the old city hall.

A short website-tip: Next Saturday (21st), flash-guru David Hobby will hold his seminar in Geneva, which will be a great event for both, professionals as well as amateurs. And just about a good week ago, Mark Howells-Mead has launched the Swiss Strobist Blog. If you’re into photography, using flashlights and more, you should definitely have a look at this blog. It currently grows with several useful tips and resources and reports about activities of our local uf Strobist-fans. You can also find them and their photos on Flickr.

Der kürzlich erwähnte Lightroom Workshop naht: Er findet am kommenden Samstag den 7. Februar in Winterthur statt. Der ganztägige Workshop wird in Englisch durchgeführt und von Bryon McCartney und mir zusammen unterrichtet. Die richtige Unterhaltung für eine Hochzeitsfeier zu finden ist nicht leicht. Darum stelle ich hier mal zwei super Bands vor, Pianobeat und Ten Ahead, die mir während meinen Engagements als Hochzeitsfotograf letztes Jahr besonders aufgefallen sind. Eine gute Hochzeitsband muss nicht nur musikalisch auf der Höhe sein, sondern auch auf jeder Feier die Stimmung der Hochzeitsgesellschaft spüren und darauf reagieren können. Beide Bands beherrschen dies perfekt.

Finding the right band for your wedding isn’t easy at all. So I thought I’d let you know about two bands I remember particularly well from last year’s wedding season, Pianobeat and Ten Ahead. It’s more than being great musicians, what makes a great wedding band. Both these band perfectly read and feel the event’s mood and react accordingly.

Auf Pianobeat stiess ich nicht das erste Mal: Schon im August 2007 waren wir auf der gleichen Hochzeit im Hotel Waldheim in Risch (Kt. Zug) engagiert. Im August 2008 trafen wir uns dann wieder, diesmal im Hotel Zürichberg.

It was not the first time I met Pianobeat: We’ve been both on the same wedding in August 2007 in the Hotel Waldheim in Risch (Canton Zug) and we’ve had the pleasure to meet again in August 2008, this time on a wedding in Zurich’s Hotel Zürichberg.

Pianobeat ist ein Trio, zwei Sänger mit grossartigen Stimmen und eine Pianistin der Spitzenklasse. Die drei Charakterköpfe berherrschen Ihr riesiges Repertoire perfekt und zeichnen sich durch ein absolut professionelles Engagement und vollen Einsatz für eine erstklassige Stimmung während jedem Hochzeitsfest aus.

The two singers and the pianist form a powerful trio with an exceptional performance. They master their huge repertoir form rock to classic and guarantee for a great atmosphere during every wedding.

Eine andere Formation, welche mit ihrem Bandnamen auch gleich die Grösse offen legt, ist Ten Ahead. Bis zu zehn Musiker stehen bei dieser Liveband auf der Bühne – nichts für enge Räume. Im Parkhotel Weggis erlebte ich die Band in ihrer vollen Vielfalt, mit ruhigeren akkustischer Musik, wie auch schnell einheizenden Partysongs.

Anther band is Ten Ahead and as their name indicates, they’re up to ten musicians on stage. I’ve met them in the Parkhotel Weggis and was impressed by their diversity, from dreamy accustics to powerful partymusic.

[english below] 2009 wird für mich ein ganz spezielles Fotografie-Workshop-Jahr, sowohl als Teilnehmer, wie auch mit eigenen Workshop-Beiträgen. Ich freue mich riesig, meinen eigenen Horizont zu erweitern und dabei auch meine eigenen Erfahrungen weiter zu geben. Bereits im Februar geht’s mit den ersten Workshops los.

2009 will become a very special photo workshop year for me, as both, a participant and as a teacher: Starting already in February, it will be all about sharing, about expanding my own horizon and giving something of my own experience on to other fellow photographers and photography enthusiasts.
